Student Animal Care/Cell Culture Worker

Position Information

This position will be concerned largely with the care and maintenance of a research mouse colony. This will involve assisting with health monitoring, weekly cage changes, and routine feeding and general care of the mice. This position will also involve assisting with the maintenance of cells in culture for experimentation.

Job Duties

Assist with the care and maintenance of mouse colony, including health checks and weekly cage changes; assist with the maintenance of human and mouse cell cultures; assist with PCR, qPCR, and RNA isolation projects as needed.

Required Skills

Attention to detail, responsibility, and reliability are crucial; a major related to biology and an interest in learning about animal care and cell culture and other molecular biological techniques is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Availability over weekends and breaks for a rotation schedule; small animal handling training, care for animal well-being.
