Position Information
The Serology Lab at the University of Missouri’s Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab (VMDL) is seeking motivated and detail-oriented seasonal workers for high volume Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) ELISA testing. Earn extra cash for the holidays while developing your hands-on laboratory skills. Looking for individuals with availability to work two-six weeks starting in mid-November. Must be available to work 10-39 hours/week Monday through Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm with flexibility to work after 5:00pm as well as weekends if necessary.
Job Duties
Trim and weigh cervid tissues in preparation for diagnostic testing. Ensure that sample accountability is maintained by verifying identification numbers and bar codes.
Operate laboratory equipment to properly homogenize trimmed tissues.
Work efficiency, trustworthiness, and strict adherence to laboratory quality control standards with attention to detail are of upmost importance.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Laboratory experience; including basic operation of pipettes and biosafety cabinets preferred. Ability to work well with other team members.
