Summer Lab Technician

Position Information

The technician will help process samples for a graduate student project aimed at looking at potential changes in aquatic invertebrate communities throughout Missouri wetlands and streams due to the widespread use of neonicotinoids as agricultural pesticides.

Job Duties

Sorting invertebrates in the lab under a microscope (will be trained)

Potential to gain skills in data entry, analysis and literature review if interested

Potential to aid is field work collecting samples, if interested

Required Skills

Ability to life heavy objects (ex. 5 gal buckets with sediment or water)

Ability to work independently when given a task

Ability to observe small details under a microscope and pick up new skills (ex. learning invertebrate identification)

Preferred Qualifications

No previous lab or field experience is needed, however basic knowledge of science is required

Other Comments

Start date is flexible

Up to 40hr a week

This position had the opportunity be extended to part time during the fall and spring semesters

Salary $13/hour
