Maize Research in Field and Lab

Position Information

The Best Lab studies the hormonal control of plant architecture, specifically in maize. Our lab utilizes a number of genetic and biochemical techniques to investigate hormonal cross-talk, including: forward and reverse genetics, quantitative genetics, molecular biology, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics. The hired candidate will gain experience in all aspects of the research in both the field and lab.

Job Duties

Researchers will be undergoing basic plant genetic experiments and learn to perform DNA extractions, PCR, and analysis of genetic data. Researchers will assist in field research including seed preparation for planting, weeding maize fields by hand, maize pollinations, collection of plant tissue, and harvest.

Be willing to get work during hot summer days in a corn field.

This position is for summer 2024. There is an opportunity to continue working during the academic year.
