Undergraduate Research Assistant

Position Information

The Lynch lab is seeking an undergraduate student for a paid research assistant position. The Lynch lab uses a variety of molecular, biochemical, and analytical techniques to study plant specialized metabolism. This research assistant will work directly with a graduate student on a USDA-funded project to better understand amino acid metabolism in tomatoes, with the potential to assist with other projects.

Job Duties

-Growth and care of experimental plant lines

-DNA genotyping

-Gene cloning and verification

-General lab maintenance

-Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

-Successful completion of General Genetics, or equivalent

-Successful completion of Cell Biology, or equivalent

-Experience with aseptic technique

-Experience with PCR

Anticipated time commitment of 1-10 hours per week during academic year, with potential for increased hours over breaks.
