Field Technician for Limnology Lab

Position Information

This full time summer position requires the applicant to conduct field sampling/research from water bodies via a canoe. Employee will filter water samples after conducting field work. There will be overnight hotel stays for 2 days a week to conduct fieldwork. The technician will have their own room.

Job Duties

Along with another technician, employee will be responsible for collecting and processing water samples, operating water monitoring equipment, driving to monitor sites, etc. As this is outdoor summer work, employee will be exposed to heat, rain, etc. Field days can be 12-16 hours long, but hours will not exceed 40 a week.

Required Skills

• Some heavy lifting (~40lbs)
• Valid drivers license
• Attention to detail
• Must be available May – August

Preferred Qualifications

• Boating license
• Experience trailering
• Comfortable driving a truck
• Experience operating a manual vehicle

Salary

• $15 per hour
• 3 per diems/week for overnight work
