Position Information
Learn about the wonders of corn, from its humble beginnings as a weed in Mexico to its rise as one of the most important crops in the world!
We use genetics, genomics, and breeding methods to explore maize diversity for food and flavor.
Job Duties
Planting corn
Weeding
Pollinating corn
Measuring corn
Collecting data
Harvesting corn
Required Skills
Must be able to work outside for long durations of time in the heat and the sun. Environment includes dust, pollen, mold, and other potential allergens.
Must have a good attitude, good work ethic, and willingness to work as a team that includes scientist, technicians, post-docs, graduate students and undergraduates.
Must have driver’s license and a car to drive to the research farm.
Job requires attention to detail.
Be very passionate about plants.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of genetics concepts.
Interest in public speaking during outreach events.

Perks include nearly unlimited sweet corn in July and August, and many baked goods througout the summer.
