Honors College Discovery Fellows

The Discovery Fellows Program is an exciting and intellectually stimulating way to learn about the process of conducting research. When you become a Discovery Fellow, you become part of an exciting and vibrant research community of leading-edge faculty, scholars, and researchers. Discovery Fellows work on projects in their academic discipline, meet other students and faculty who share similar interests, and use these experiences to help pave the way for future research projects. Fellows will gain insight into the professional world, enhance their knowledge base and critical thinking skills, and better prepare themselves for graduate school. Social gatherings with other fellows, professional development workshops, and an opportunity to present their research are highlights of the program.

Current first year students and entering freshmen with an ACT composite score of 32 or better are eligible for the Honors College Discovery Fellows Program. Participants are selected by the deans of their respective colleges or schools in the spring. Every fall we have twenty-three spots available for first year students and twenty-three spots for second year students.

Fellows are awarded a scholarship of $2,000 for the year. This award is dispersed in four equal installments during the year and only if the student maintains good standing in the program requirements. Selected students work on their research project approximately eight hours per week during the academic year.
