Looking for IT DIY fans. Do you know Internet of Things (IoT) technology is changing our daily life and industries, including agriculture? Are you interested in developing smart systems using sensors, Raspberry pi, Arduino, ZigBee, network, IoT platform and big data? Do you want to develop a website that can be used to monitor and control farms, shops, greenhouses, crops and animals? Have you imaged to develop useful smart phone apps? We want to fund you to gain those exciting experiences.
Hired individuals will work with faculty mentors and graduate students in developing IoT modules that can be used for teaching and research projects. The main duties include (1) to develop IoT systems based a local network, wireless sensor and actuators, (2) to develop smart phone apps to review sensor data and control remote devices, and (3) to develop a data management system (database) to store, visualize and analyze data. Positions may occasionally require field work to install and test the developed IoT systems. Field trips may be offered to tour business and research labs who have IoT systems in house.
Position requires one or more of the following skills:
(1) Familiar with network devices, such as routers, switches
(2) Interested in sensor system development
(3) Wired or wireless network setup
(4) Machine-to-machine communication protocol and IoT system development
(5) Experience on use of Python/Visual studio/C++/Arduino or similar programing language for website development and control
(6) Can work independently
