The Research Assistant/Farm Hand will report to the Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Center (HARC). He/She will be responsible for general farm upkeep at HARC, such as mowing, weed eating, tending to cattle, watering plants, and helping to maintain farm equipment and machinery. Others duties may include, but are not limited to: aiding in the planting and harvesting of corn and soybean, plant tissue collection experiments, maintaining irrigation systems, and aiding researchers with their Crop Physiology experiments.
This position requres that applicants must be able able to work outdoors for extended periords of time and be able to lift 30lbs. Candidates should have basic mechanical knowledge and be comfortable driving heavy machinery.
Ideal candidates should have experience with operating balers, planters, tractors, mowers, and cattle.
