2012 Missouri Technology Expo - Student Elevator Pitch Competition
The Missouri Tech Expo Elevator Pitch Competition is another opportunity for up and coming entrepreneurs to raise start-up funding, get connected with valuable resources and network with potential investors. This opportunity is specifically targeted for technological ideas. While the logistical aspects for the competition are handled by CLIMB, the event itself as well as the prizes is sponsored by the Office of the Technology Management and Industry Relations (OTMIR). The competition is incorporated in OTMIR’s Tech Expo, a full day event scheduled on September 2012.
GENERAL GUIDELINE AND INFORMATION:
Entry Deadline: September 15, 2012
Open to all students of a university or college in the state of Missouri
Every individual or team must complete a two-page venture idea submission form, include information described in the CLIMB Tech Expo application and evaluation sheet, and sign an idea disclosure agreement. Submit all forms online to: climbmizzou@gmail.com.
Finalists will be chosen to compete for:
• First Place - $1,000
• Second Place - $750
• Third Place - $500
Six to eight finalists will be selected from written entries to compete at the 2012 Missouri Tech Expo on September 20, 2012. Finalists will present their elevator pitch at ¬Monsanto Auditorium from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Winners will be announced at the end of the competition before the SCIENTIFIC PARTNERSHIP AND RESOURCE CONNECTION (SPARC) reception. SPARC is a quarterly fun and informal event designed to enlighten and entertain while bringing business experts and scientists within close distance of one another with the goal of generating new technology companies. At the SPARC Reception, students will have the opportunity to mingle with inventors, entrepreneurs and investors from around the state. All entries must be sent to: climbmizzou@gmail.com by 5:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2012. The participants will be given detailed instruction for next steps via e-mail or phone. Notifications for finalists will be sent out on Monday, September 17, 2012. During the September 20, 2012 competition, finalists will have 3 minutes for pitch presentation and 2 minutes for Q&A from judges and the expo audience.
